Prison Lobby. Many of the people in the Hudson Valley work in prisons. In this picture, the guard who works at the reception desk is frisking an inmate whose work detail will take him past the main gate -- maybe to put up the flag, to shovel snow, or to mop the hallway. The people watching are the visiting family of some other inmate. Soon the front desk guard will put them through the metal detector and eventually stamp their hands with invisible fluorescent ink and let them go in.
