We continue our 20th anniversary intern alum spotlights with Matt Gillespie, Marist ‘03 (pictured with his fiancé Allie Kutcher.)

Matt majored in History with a minor in political science and is a police sergeant in Glen Cove, New York. He shares his favorite intern experiences:

"There’s probably too many positive memories for me to recall a specific instance but I always admired Col. Johnson’s love of history and of teaching. I believe I was in one of the first intern groups for the HRVI so it was very exciting to help the Institute get up and running! I specifically recall field trips to West Point and local historic battlefields that I really enjoyed. Also, getting to look at local original primary source documents from the Hudson River area was so much fun."
