This week, we are celebrating our 2024 Dr. Frank T. Bumpus Intern, Grace Naccarato, as she completes her summer internship with HRVI. It has been an exciting and productive eight weeks, with Grace completing a research project on the importance of Val-Kill to the growth and independence of Eleanor Roosevelt that included working with primary and secondary source documents, multiple visits to the Eleanor Roosevelt National Historic Site (Val-Kill) in Hyde Park, and an in-depth editing process with HRVI’s Senior Program Director Chris Pryslopski and Executive Director Andy Villani. Her work will appear in print in an upcoming issue of The Hudson River Valley Review.

Additionally, Grace completed a digitization project of over thirty-five years of "The Accordian," the quarterly historical newsletter of the Friends of Historic Rochester in Ulster County. Nearly all this material has previously existed in hardcopy form only, but thanks to her work the history has been preserved for generations to come. As Bumpus Intern, Grace also participated in regular team meetings with the staff of HRVI and contributed to the planning of a number of ongoing projects and upcoming initiatives.

As we thank her for her excellent work, Grace is already shifting her attention to the upcoming fall semester, where she will study at Marist’s branch campus in Florence, Italy. Buona fortuna, Grace!
