Historical Description:

Natalie Hays Hammond is the daughter of John Hays Hammond, the discoverer of the long-lost King Solomon Mines in South Africa. Natalie Hays Hammond designed gardens based on Japanese and Chinese stroll gardens. She used both popular and rare Japanese and Chinese plants as the New York environment would permit. The museum is a dedicated cross-cultural center that sponsors and hosts events, exhibits, music, and art of the New York metropolitan area.

The Site:

The Hammond Museum’s stroll gardens contain a variety of Japanese and Chinese plants and fauna. Additionally, a variety of exhibits are featured throughout the year. The Museum also has a café that is open daily during the week.
